If someone asks you, "What is yoga"? What is your first thought?

Yoga is not about your hamstrings, it is how you get along with your mother, your spouse, the people in your life. It is a life science, an artful way to live. In today’s society we spend inordinant periods of time multi-tasking and splitting our attention. Being neither HERE nor THERE we’re swept up in the day to day hectecness that is work and family life. We shift from being human BEINGS to humans DOING. In the process, and often because we experience some health crisis or personal dilemma, one day we “wake up” and look in the mirror and ask ourselves, “well, how did I get here??”

Well, the answer is no, it doesn't have to be so ethereal.  Let's demystify things a little.  Ready??

oga is not about your hamstrings, it is how you get along with your mother, your spouse, the people in your life.

Yoga is the perfect antidote to this dilemma.

Not because what you need is stretched hamstrings and more open hips, ( you already knew that, right?) but because what you need is to step back away from the edge you’ve been walking and look at whatever you have been doing, and figure out what you need to do differently to help create change and ease in your life.

And THAT is what yoga is. Yoga is practicing self reflection and becoming more fully present.

The practice of yoga includes many aspects. Physical asana (postures) are most familiar to westerners and serve to develop strength and stability and ease in the body. The mind and the body are not separate, however. Link asana to coordination and control of the breath (pranayama) and you further sharpen, still and focus the mind and gain insight into how our bodies work, and how our mind works.

With a clearer mind we’re able to see ourselves more objectively. Our habitual patterns of movement and thought become clearer. We learn to be more open and fully present in our daily lives. As a bonus, this has both a documentable affect on the autonomic nervous system, and a direct effect on relieving stress and it’s potential health risks.

Corazone classes are taught in the traditional and authentic ways developed by the ancient yogis. These may include postures, breathing techniques, meditation, relaxation, sound (sometimes) and yogic philosophy. Classes are for all levels but especially if you have never practiced, or have been intimidated by a class filled with nubile bendable athletes in the past.
